Short Term Scientific Mission (STSM) Program
 

One of the Milestones of SYSINBIO is to establish an active Short Term Scientific Mission (STSM) program through which it will be possible for young researchers (PhD or post-doc) to go to other laboratories within the SYSINBIO consortium for up to 3 months and acquire new competences that are needed for solving research problems relevant to their study.

Purpose:

  • to exploit the competences of the different participating laboratories to lead to further integration of European research activities
  • to train candidates with competences in different fields
  • to extend the international network of young researchers

SYSINBIO can finance 11 missions of 3 months duration each, in the span of the 3 year project period.

Application deadlines: continuous (from January 1st 2009 to June 1st 2011)

Application practicalities

Application protocol:

  1. 1 page project description
  2. approval letter from the PI of the supervising SYSINBIO lab
  3. approval letter from the PI of the hosting SYSINBIO lab
  4. submit all 3 files, as ONE pdf file
  5. no later than 1 month the Steering Committee and the coordinator will make a decision on the application

Funding:

  1. The travel will be refunded for up to 500 €
  2. The accommodation will be refunded for up to 500 €/month
  3. The host lab will receive 500 €/month for running costs

The same candidate is eligible for more than one STSM mission in the 3 year period
